Palak Paneer
What is palak paneer?
Palak paneer is a vegetarian, Indian curry made from spinach and various seasonings with cubes of paneer (Indian cheese). The crispy, rich cheese is enveloped in a creamy, flavorful, nutrient-packed curry.

Ingredients
- 14 oz paneer, cubed
- 1-pound baby spinach
- 200 g canned crushed tomato
- 1 medium white onion, diced
- 1 green chili, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- 2 tsp ground coriander
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp garam masala
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp salt, more to taste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 3 tsp oil, divided
Directions
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tsp oil over medium high heat. Add cubes of paneer and season with a pinch of salt. Pan sear until golden and remove from pan before wiping it clean.
- Add 1 tsp of oil to the pan and add diced onion and chili. Sauté until onions turn translucent for around 3-5 minutes before adding garlic and ginger, sautéing for 2 more minutes.
- Add crushed tomato, coriander, cumin, and garam masala and sauté for 2 minutes. Add water and spinach, stirring until wilted, and remove from heat.
- Transfer mixture to a blender and carefully purée. Add salt and sugar, adjusting to taste.
- Add blended sauce back to the pan over medium low heat and add paneer, cooking until everything is warmed through.
- Serve with basmati rice, jeera rice, and/or naan.
