Tempeh Bacon Crumble
Salty, sweet, and smoky, these tempeh crumbles are packed with flavor and texture! They cook relatively quickly and add so much dimension to any other meal. I added the tempeh crumbles to lettuce cups for a vegan BLT wrap, but they also go great in omelettes, mashed potatoes, salad, or soup.

Ingredients
- 1-8 oz block tempeh
- 2 tbsp tamari or soy sauce
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cooking oil or spray
Directions
- Whisk together tamari/soy sauce, maple syrup, paprika, and garlic powder in a bowl. Set aside.
- Use your fingers to crumble tempeh into small bits into another bowl.
- Heat a bit of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add crumbled tempeh and cook for 5 minutes until some parts begin to brown.
- Add tempeh to the bowl with whisked sauce and stir to combine. Let sit for 1-2 minutes so all of the liquid is absorbed.
- Return the flavored tempeh back to the pan over medium heat, adding more oil if necessary. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes. Serve immediately or let cool and refrigerate.
